Our Precision Tow Facility is available for the calibration and testing of your equipment. And for those applications where you need customized attention, we would be more than happy to evaluate your needs and determine the best option for you.

Calibration Services

Calibration is the key to ensuring the accuracy of any piece of equipment. Proper maintenance of a mechanical meter can help maintain its performance, however mechanical parts will deteriorate over time resulting in less than optimal performance. Although solid state devices are not prone to mechanical failures they are constructed using discrete components which will drift some over time. Unlike standard test equipment like DVM’s which can be compared against a standard in the field, no mechanism is available to adequately test a water velocity meter in the field. In fact, the only method to ensure the system is reading properly is to have the device towed.

Our precision Tow Facility allows us to calibrate your device at multiple velocity points between 0 and 5 ft/sec. The channel is 3 feet deep and 4 feet wide. Further, the carriage is outfitted with 120VAC as well as a DC supply capable of supplying up to 24VDC. The speed is controlled through a closed loop system and monitored directly by a PC and confirmed by a precision timing system. Custom Services

Electromagnetic (EM) velocity meters have been used for decades in a variety of applications to measure the velocity of water and other conductive fluids. In fact EM velocity meters provide an easy to use, robust platform for measuring velocities very accurately in extreme conditions. Further, EM sensors can be developed which measure velocities in one, two and three axis.
